Family

I am truly grateful to have a wonderful husband that truly loves me and is supportive in most of my decisions. When I first got my locks he just looked and asked " It took 2 days to get that"? I showed him some pics of what they were going to look like and gave a reluctantly OK. Of course 16 months later he is in love with the locks!

I have 2 wonderful daughters 31 and 28 and 1 of the most handsome teenage son in the world, he's 15. Of course this is their mother writing. The most hardest thing for me is to be a mother of adult children. My daughters came at a very young age when I should not have been having children. Like all people we carry head problems from our parents and pass them on to our children. I pray to help my children get through with Jehovahs help.

Products

I have been locked for 16 months and I have not had a problem with itching or dryness. For the 1st 14 months I did not put anythin on my hair but water. I still braid and band and wash with starter shampoo only because it is not a problem for me. But recently I found this light oil that I put on my hair for shine. It smells wonderful and you only use a little. I put about a dime size about every other day. I took this pic with the price still on it. It cost $7.99 in Michigan and I picked it up at Walgreens.

I use Lottabody 1 part solution & 3 parts water in a mist
spray bottle. I roll my hair on sponge or perm rods.
This style was achieved with perm rods.

In The Life

I did not post any pic during my 1st months locked b/c I must admit I did not like what I saw. Surprisingly I never wore a wig or covered my head. I just dealt w/ it. This pic is the latest pic and my locks are 16 months. I get so many compliments and women just walking up to me asking me about my hair that it was worth the plucked chicken head style. I am really looking foward to coloring my locks and having cut into a bob cut.

A Hair

I was saved by Sisterlocs in Aug. 2007, 9 months locked. I had never seen sisterlocs or so I thought. One day I woke and decided that I was tired of throwing my money out of the window and not even catching a breeze. So I decied to get something to the affect of locs so I visited a few salons that were doing traditional locs. After looking I knew I wanted something that I could style but not be bother with and triditional locs were not it. So after doing research I came upon SL's and became excited. Then I found a loctician in Oak Park, MI, Paulette at Locs 4 Life. Actually I had 2 trainees do my hair, Ashley, Paulette's daughter and Robin. I done about a month of research and that was enough for me. My DH was not happy when I came home after 2 days of locking session. He says that I must be crazy b/c I had that wet plucked chicken style. After I showed him some of styles on the internet all he said is that is "my hair don't look like that. Well after some time he has come to love it.

Over the past 50 years I have had all types of hair styles. Afros, Braids, Perms, sew in weaves, glue in weaves, lace front weaves, twist, fake knots, and color. These are some of my slave hair that I thought was cute. Can you believe that?
I love all kinds of reds, which I don't have right now and it's killing me. This the first time that I have been natural in about 30 years. I never thought I would like it but I am in love with my hair.
